Due West

As some of you know, three guys who have toured with Nashville Tribute over the years (Tim, Matt & Brad), are also in a country band called Due West. They have had a tremendous 2008 and first part of 2009. They have had success as songwriters having songs that they have written recorded by artists like Bucky Covington and Lady Antebellum. After many years of blood, sweat and tears as a band in Nashville, they have finally signed a record deal with Bigger Than Me Records and their first single I Get That All The Time goes to radio in April of this year. I first want to say that I am so happy for the guys. They have worked hard and they are getting an opportunity that I believe they deserve. But…what is more impressive to me, so much more impressive to me than their secular successes is how they continue to maintain humility as they testify of the things they believe and the things that they love every chance they get. They still make time to tour with Nashville Tribute, they fulfill their callings in their own wards, Brad continues to work with Boy Scouts, Tim continues to work with the mentally challenged, and all three are shining examples of guys who would truly give the shirt off their backs to help another. I am so glad that they have each other out on the road to keep each other humbly on the straight and narrow. I wish the boys the best! - Jason Deere

I have known Tim, Matt, Brad & Jason personally now for about a year but they have been a huge part of our family, in particular Suzie, Kent, Tawnie & Tyson, for alot longer than that as they got really close to Tyson when he was struggling with his biggest trial in his life, cancer. Before Tyson's passing Jason wrote a song at Tyson's request for his mother, Suzie, entitled, 'Everything is Beautiful' which was sung and recorded by Due West. So the first time I met Tim, Matt & Brad was at Tyson's funeral at which they sang 'Everything is Beautiful'. It sounds so simple but endulge me for a minute so i can tell the story that happened 'behind the scenes' and to let you know how unselfish these three are. At the time of Tyson's passing they had just made a trip to Utah from Nashville the week before and as you can guess when you're just getting started in the country music business it is tough and funds are tight and they just couldn't figure out how to swing getting back out to Utah but the word was out that they may not be able to make it and fulfill little Ty's request...when lo and behold the night before the funeral services someone donated their frequent flyer miles to them so they scrambled and headed to the airport in Nashville and arrived in Salt Lake City at 2 A.M. (the morning of the funeral) got a vehicle and drove to smithfield, Utah which is 1 and 1/2 hours north of SLC and they were there at 10 A.M. for the funeral with little or no sleep and had to figure out how to play the two songs they were asked to sing without the piano. (I overheard Tony McClellan tell Brad Hull that if it were anyone else trying to play the guitar to the songs he'd worry but since it was Brad, he wasn't worried because he knew Brad's talents with the guitar). It was Spectacular! There was not a dry eye in the entire congregation, including all of Tyson's Football buddies from Skyview High. As I sat there with tears streaming down my face I thought about how unselfish Brad and Tim and Matt were that they would go through all they did, took time out of their busy schedules, left their families in Nashville, lost hours of sleep to pay their last respects to a young 17 yr. old kid that wasn't even family! WOW, that told me ALL i needed to know about those 3 young men from Due West.
As I have visited with them over the past few months and listened to their music it is evident to me that these three are on the road to stardom and it couldn't happen to a better bunch of guys. They blend so well and they sound so good and they are so humble and more importantly, very sincere. They will tell you in all their humulity that it was no big deal to do what they did for Tyson but let me tell you with all my sincerity, it was a HUGE deal. They love to sing and through music make people happy. Whether it is performing country music as Due West or the spiritual side with The Nashville Tribut Band, they have a passion for making people feel good through their music. Due West will be a household name sooner rather than later and it is an honor and priviledge for me to know these men. Keeping in mind that none of this would be possible without the ever so humble, Jason Deere. So, Jason, Tim, Matt and Brad I wish you all the best and please don't ever forget where you have been! - Blake Sandall
